In, Of, and About the World
Cortni Merritt has been writing poetry since childhood and began sharing her short poems on Instagram in 2017. Over the next year, she explored her love for haiku and combined it with her amateur nature photography and photo editing abilities. In 2018, she decided to gather some of her favorites, along with some new images and thoughts, into a short collection.
Haiku often seek to paint a vivid image with a few words and well-placed syllabic emphasis. There is often a connection with nature, and in the spaces between the short lines, room for quiet reflection.
